Why choose to come and stay at Narthiac ... ?

The house is built in Sarlat stone, a warm and aesthetically pleasing stone, offering the home comforts away from home in a stress free environment, in a peaceful hamlet with superb country views of the Dordogne. Everything fits together creating harmony between man and nature.
All 4 double bedrooms have en suite bathroom facilities and there is comfortable seating in the lounge area for 8 people in front of the inglenook fireplace.
The location is very private, offering 7 acres of garden and woodland with walnut, fig, cherry, apple, plum, chestnut trees and cassis bush.
There is a stone built BBQ, with outside eating areas, one with canopy, the other with vine covered pergola, garaging, parking, chemin, outbuildings and glorious uninterrupted views of the Dordogne countryside. Various garden chairs, recliners and bicycles.
We welcome all guests and have particularly catered for families, children, and groups of friends. Long-term renters, week-end or short stays are all by arrangement. Unfortunately the terrain does not facilitate easy wheel chair accessibility so we cannot recommend the property as being suitable for wheel chairs.
The Dordogne is full of interest for the active, inquisitive and relaxing visitor, walking, cycling, mountain biking, site seeing, exploring, golf, horse riding, canoeing, swimming, tennis, fishing, restaurants, wine, chateaux, caves, historic sites, markets are all within close proximity offering a varied choice to meet your mood.

What does the kitchen comprise ... ?

The Kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary white goods including, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. It also has an electric 4-hob hotplate with overhead extractor and electric oven. There are numerous floor and wall cupboards for storage.
The kitchen is complimented by an array of pots, pans, various utensils, crockery and cutlery.

How are the bedrooms laid out ... ?

The Master bedroom is situated on the first floor with it’s own en-suite bathroom. Plenty of wardrobe space and cupboards.
The Double Bedroom is situated on the ground floor again plenty of wardrobe space and cupboards.
The two Twin Bedrooms are also situated on the ground floor and again offer plenty of wardrobe space and cupboards.
All 4 bedrooms offer generous and comfortable accommodation.

What is the local area like ... ?

The Property is totally private and secluded, offering a peaceful and tranquil environment to relax and unwind.
There are numerous excellent restaurants in the area offering a variety of food at excellent value, including the local restaurant in the adjacent village of Anlhiac, which offers traditional dishes.
The very varied countryside provides a scenic background to each season:
- Summer – Swimming and sunbathing at the nearby lakes and beaches, or canoeing down one of the numerous rivers
- Autumn – Mushroom hunting and exploring. Walnut harvesting
- Winter - Walking and Winter activities. Wood Burner
- Spring - Spring flowers, truffles and local specialities.

What is the Dordogne area like ... ?

The Property is ideally located to explore the Region’s rich cultural history (prehistoric cave paintings, medieval castles and many excellent museums, including Les Eyzies, Limoges and Perigueux).
Within close proximity of the famous Chateaux and Gardens of Hautefort, Excideuill, Sarlat and Brive.

Within an hour’s drive of the Championship Golf Courses at Chateau des Vigiers and Souillac.

Cultural History:

This part of France is a major centre of pre-history, and where we can learn how we lived tens of thousands of years ago. The World Museum of Prehistory at Les Eyzies is superb, as are the facsimiles of the cave paintings at Lascaux, and the real thing at Font de Gaume, Les Combarelles and Teyjat, which are still open to the general public.

In medieval times, the troubadours created a new poetry, which was the foundation of the western poetic tradition. Two of the most famous, Giraut de Bornelh and Bertran de Born, lived nearby in the marvellous chateaux of Hautefort and Excideuil. Limoges (1 hour’s drive) is another great cultural centre for glass, porcelain and enamel.

Varied Countryside:

The property is on the boundary of the Perigord Vert and Perigord Blanc and offers superb views of the green rolling hills of the Dordogne. The area is unspoilt with very little traffic, surrounded by farms and mother nature. The area abounds in natural lakes, with beaches, swimming and water sports activities. There are the world famous horse stables at Arnac-Pompadour.

The numerous rivers that traverse the Dordogne offer spectacular scenery, cliff top villages and water sports activities including numerous canoeing centres.

What are the arrangements with keys ...?

We'll post the key to you approximately 2 weeks before the start of your holiday. If you live near us in Marlborough, then we'll bring it round to you. Please return it either via the post to our home in Marlborough or pop it round if you live nearby.

What are the arrangements for linen and cleaning ... ?

Bed linen and bath towels are included within the Rental Rates.
A change of bed linen, towels, and a weekly clean are included within the price of bookings of 14 nights or more.
